MANILA, Philippines – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has issued a show cause order against ride-hailing company Move It for allegedly exceeding its rider cap and failing to report riders’ activation statuses.

The order followed a Move It representative’s admission before the Senate committee on public services’ hearing that the company did not notify the LTFRB about the increased number of riders.

LTFRB Chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III directed Move It to submit a notarized explanation within five days, detailing why it “should not be suspended or removed from the motorcycle taxi pilot study or program.”

Guadiz also summoned Move It to attend a hearing before the Motorcycle Taxi (MC Taxi) technical working group on December 18 at the LTFRB office in Quezon City.

“Failure on the part of respondent (Move It) to file its answer within the prescribed period and to attend the hearing of this case on the aforementioned date shall be considered a waiver on its part to be heard,” Guadiz said in a statement on Monday.

“Move It should be reprimanded for its negligence, adding it could be a ground for the company’s suspension,” the LTFRB chief added.
